Jewish Scarf – Purpose
A female’s perspective:
Jewish Scarf – Purpose: Personally I find scarves a great accessory. They feel great around the neck. Scarves can warm the neck on a cold wintry day. Also, scarves can add color to what may be a boring outfit otherwise; they come in many colors and different fabric content.
My favorite color are the lavender purples. I tend to navigate toward the combination of lavender with an olive green. For example, in nature often see the purple green combination in purple flowers or purple grapes against the green leaves. Another example, is a field of purple flowers among the tall green grass.
My favorite fabric content is 100% silk. Why? Because it is non Shatnez. It is pure. Nothing is mixed with the fabric such as polyester which is man-made. Polyester is a synthetic. Whereas, silk is pure luxury. Silk feels nice against the skin. And it makes me feel special. Therefore, I love wearing silk for special occasions.
I think you are beginning to see that a 100% silk purple with green scarf is my favorite.
I said, silk is worn for special occasions. My favorite time of the week is the liturgy on Shabbat wearing my purple silk scarf. That is my special occasion.
Because when my head is covered and the Jewish scarf flows down the side of my face; I am in a secret place. No one can see me and I cannot see them (especially when my eyes are shut). I am alone with Adonai. We commune and we listen. I praise Him and glorify Him. I am grateful for who He is. We spend quality time together in our secret place. What is more comforting than feeling silk on my face and praising G-d? The experience touches body and soul.
I love it so much; I want to share that with you so that you also may have those special moments.
It is just a thought. Just an idea.
Jewish Scarf – purpose, more reasons
In addition, the scarves at Kiebortz Jewish Gifts are spectacular. The unique artwork is a beautifully design. Each piece of art is a vibrant print on the silk. Take a look at the biblical meaning. On each listing, I write a description of the Artist’s thoughts and meaning of the art. Click here to see scarves.
There are other reasons to wear a head covering. Here is a list of a few:
- We show submission to Adonai in that He is always above us.
- It shows modesty for the woman to cover her hair to not cause the male population to lust.
- It is traditional
Any other reasons? What do you think is the Jewish Scarf – Purpose? Leave me a comment. Tell me what you think. I like to hear from you.
This is from the Jerusalem Council and their thoughts on the Jewish Scarf – Purpose or wearing a head covering:
“Wearing a head covering, according to the Torah then, is truly a sign of submission to G-d. By wearing one, one essentially proclaims that they are intending to guard G-d’s commandments. Thus you will find that by wearing one, more so than just tzitzit (since tzitzit and their purpose are not easily recognizable by the nations of the diaspora), that you will be held to a higher standard by others, for you wear upon you then a very obvious symbol of submission to HaShem and his ways. From a midrash it can even be drawn that wearing one is a sign of submission to our husband, who is HaShem – the Messiah, in that we intend to guard his commandments. And if you are female, then by implication (and this is where the Apostle gets it from) that it is also a sign of submission to your earthly husband as well – another mitzvah in itself”.
